FROM THE DIRECTOR

Sara KayWith our 27th season due to begin I announce yet another exciting line up of Friday night panels. Thanks to our creative programming commitee led by Molly Barnes, panels will begin on October 19th with "The Book As Art", exploring the book as a medium for the artist. Later in the month we will hit on topics geared toward the women in the audience, with "For Women Only" . Even further into the season we have a panel that will certainly appeal. On November 30, we will enter the world of Contemporary Erotic Art in "Porn Again".

The program committee, under Molly Barnes' direction, has done a wonderful job of creating this coming seasons panels, but we can never have too many heads working together to drum up ideas. Contact ATOA and let us know what you want to talk about in upcoming panels. All ideas are welcomed and encouraged. On September 6th we kick off our fall season with an opening at the Denise Bibro Gallery where winners from last year's curator's choice competition will be exhibiting their work in a group show. I congratulate the winners and thank Denise Bibro for her hard work and kind support.

Keep in mind that we will be holding another Curator's Choice competition next Spring. Start getting your slides ready now!

Speaking of getting ready ATOA is gearing up for our 2nd Art Auction. A live auction will be held this spring and WE NEED YOUR HELP! Whether you are interested in donating art, solely volunteering on the big night or you are able to volunteer more time to help put the event together, all support is appreciated. Contact the ATOA office.

On a final and very exciting note, I am pleased to announce that Colleen Halligan will be joining the ATOA team as Associate Director. Colleen, a New York artist, received a BA in Art History from the University of Maryland, later attending the Lorenzo de' Medici Art Institute in Florence where she pursued studies in painting restoration. Colleen has been a dedicated volunteer for ATOA and I'm delighted to be able to work with her this new season.

I am looking forward to seeing you Friday nights!

Sara Kay
