From the Chairman
Thanks to support from artists and the art community and
NEA, we finished the entire audio part of the archival
preservation process last spring. Then moved on to the
preservation of the video portion of the archive, dating from
1991. The recent auction at the Sundaram Tagore
Gallery, in May, helped to meet our financial needs -- and
therefor to raise enough to allow us to move headway in completing the video
preservation. It allowed us to make a substantial start to that effort. So, we are
now more than one-third finished with the video safeguarding and in that
process found a way to more affordibly digitize and back up the tapes. By some
time later this fall we expect to have finished the entire project and be able to
move on to talking to universities, musuems, libraries and other potential users.
Progress is being made. The now more than 1,000 programs recorded over 33
years, and continuing to be recorded are being saved.
