Irving Sandler in Dialog with Vernita N'Cognita

Critic and historian Irving Sandler is author of several books including, most recently, "A Sweeper Up After Artists." Sandler has been a vital presence in the New York art world for more than fifty years. A expert on the New York School and Abstract expressionism, Sandler was a founding board member of ATOA and has served on boards of other arts institutions including Artists Space. Vernita Nemec, a.k.a. Vernita N'Cognita, is an a performance and visual artist and director of the Viridian Gallery in Chelsea. She was executive director and president of ATOA for nine years.

Digital Art in New York City and Abroad

Digital Art in New York City and Abroad
Panelists explore recent developments in digital art, both in NYC and abroad. Bruce Wands will talk about the First Beijing International New Media Arts Exhibition, and other international events. Panelists will discuss the current New York digital art scene including the Bitforms Gallery, Postmasters Gallery, Eyebeam and others. A brief survey of international venues including the SIGGRAPH Art Gallery, Ars Electronica, ZKM, Londonís Creativity & Cognition Exhibition and ISEA will be presented. Attendees will gain an understanding of how digital art is being integrated into the contemporary art scene, as well as learn about the specialized venues that exist for this new art.

"Curator's Choice Competition"

Michael Walls has curated numerous exhibitions, such as "Painting a passionate response," at the Painting Center in NY, "Fourteen Artists in Los Angeles," at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in CA, and "The State of California Painting," at Queen Elizabeth II Art Council, in New Zealand. He has been director of several art galleries including Susan Caldwell Gallery, Siegal Contemporary Art, O'Hara Gallery, and Kouros Gallery. He has run his own galleries in NY and CA, and is currently co-director of the Howard Scott Gallery in NY.
